Robert Cooper's Latest Studio Ceramics
Robert teaches at Camberwell College, London and is a respected artist in his own right. He is fascinated by surfaces, their colour, texture and narrative possibilities. The vessel, its interior and containment are important. Hand building is Robert's preferred method of working. The use of clay in its different states, sloppy, plastic or dry, contributes to the process and final result.
Recycling is a key part of his way of working. Sometimes pieces are built incorporating found items such as old ceramic shards. Decoration used includes ceramic transfers, bright vivid colours in abstract patterns as well as textured volcanic glazes.
The drinking vessels pictured, have been beautifully constructed using a variety of clays and glazes.
